Camden Thomas Boehm

Camden Thomas Boehm arrived Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 1:20pm. He came into this world weighing 6lbs 13 oz, 19 in long, 5 weeks early-but healthy and happy.

His arrival came as a big surprise to us. Saturday night (the day before he was born) I was having some pregnancy issues I was just a little unsure about- so called the Dr. She said it was nothing to worry about, but that most women with these signs will go into labor within a week or two. Kyle and I instantly got anxious- so I packed a bag just in case. I honestly didn't think it was going to happen, but wanted to be somewhat prepared.

Sunday I continued to cramp, but I did a lot during my pregnancy- so didn't think much about it. We were planning to go to Wal-mart and Target, but I was dilly dallying around because I just didn't feel right. I went into the laundry room to switch over the clothes, felt a pop and instantly noticed my water broke. I screamed for Kyle and freaked out. Yes, Kyle will attest that I was a total wreck and he did an awesome job calming me down. So we get to the hospital and I was already 4 cm dilated, but the nurse thought he was breech. Once my Dr. got there- she discovered that yes, he was breech. His butt was down and his head and hands were in my ribs. They decided to take me to OR and give me meds and prep for a C-section. My Dr. was going to try to turn him, but if it didn't work they would do a C-section. Well Camden wasn't budging- so in no time they had him out. Kyle was so excited to rock Camden in the nursery during his first hour of life. Afterall, Camden is a spitting image of his Daddy.

Camden had low blood sugar- so was immediatly hooked up to an IV. The next day he was doing much better and was able to get the IV removed, but then developed jaundice. These two things are very normal for babies- especially premies.

The Boehm family is back home in Oostburg and doing well. Because of the jaundice, we have to keep Camden on special lights. We will go back to the Dr. tomorrow to see if him levels have gotten better. He is doing just great- eating, pooping and sleeping and of course bringing his new mom and dad much happiness.
